1st Haircut

Brynn’s hair had started to get a little unruly and my efforts to try and tame it were not working very well.  Against Cam’s wishes Brynn and I headed to Cool Cuts.  What seemed like a good idea at the time ended up being a disaster.  All Brynn needed was a trim to straighten out her bangs and a little assistance on the sides.  I told the lady multiple times – please leave her curls in the back alone.  Not more than minutes later all of her curls were gone, Brynn was leaving with a bow in her hair, a smile on her face and I was hoping Cam was not going to kill me.

Brynn was great.  She loved the car she got to sit in and drive while watching her favorite Baby Einstein movie.  She was even making animal noise along with the movie.  She was not sure about the squirt bottle of water or the blow dryer.  But to my surprise she sat very still while the lady cut her hair.
What are you doing lady?

Holding on tight to her legos

My only hope now is that her curls come back quickly and that I can do a better job of taming her curls in the future.

Don't worry Mom my hair will grow back?  I am still cute without my curls.

SOOO Big!!

Brynn continues to become more and more independent.  It is fun to watch but sad to know that I will never get some of these moments back as she gets older.  She is a very happy and playful toddler.  She is extremely animated and very social.  She loves to follow and play with all of the children she comes in contact with.  Brynn brings joy and laughter to our lives everyday.

She loves:
  • Cucumbers
  • Crawling through tunnels
  • Puppies
  • Music/Dancing
  • Bath time

She is working on:
  • Animal noises
  • Running

Technology

Life with a toddler is hilarious.  Every day is an adventure as they explore the world around them.  Brynn has become more animated and aware of the world around her.  She is curious about everything and loves to mimics the actions of the people around her.  It was so cute, the other day she sat on the bed mimicking her auntie Ashley as she texted and made a phone call.

Excuse me I need to make a phone call.   HELLO!!

Maybe I will text them instead.

Happy Halloween

To my surprise Brynn kept her costume on the entire night.  At first she was trying to pull the hood off to look at it.  After awhile she forgot it was there and would poke at the stuffing and pull on the tail.  She knew how cute she was and was being a little ham.  During the weeks leading up to Halloween we tried to teach her how to say “Moo” but still to this day she just giggles when we say it.

Moooo

Pumpkin Patch

We took Brynn to the pumpkin patch again this year.  This year was much better than last.  She still did not fully understand what was going on but loved to see all of the people and activities taking place.  The petting zoo was her favorite, except for when one of the sheep kept following her around.  The train she enjoyed but she enjoyed saying “Choo Choo” more.  The poor thing has been teething so badly lately that we did not stay long at the pumpkin patch.  You could just see it in her eyes how much pain she was in.  However, she was a trooper and kept smiling the whole time.

What are these big orange things?

What's kind of animal is that?

New Ride

Brynn's new trike is a huge hit.  We have to take it for a spin every night whether it is just round the pool area or all the way to the park.  She will stand next to it trying to climb in or ram it against the sliding glass door until you take her for a ride.  Brynn loves to go to the park and see all of the puppies.  The trike is the perfect distance from the ground as all of the puppies are at her level so she can pet them without having to get down.

Lets Go!!

I love my tirke.

Mom, I think I need a bell and some streamers.

Higher!!

Uh-O Spaghetti-O

Brynn has become very animated lately.  Everything she does is with large gestures and strong emotions.  She knows what she wants when she wants it.  Brynn loves to be the center of attention and knows what to do to make everyone laugh.  Here are pictures from the other night when Brynn was being a little character.
Brynn what did you do with your blanket?

I don't know.

Brynn where did your clothes go?

Uh-O!!

Do you have my clothes?

Look Whooo’s One!

I know I am late in posting pictures from Bynn’s 1st birthday party – but better late than never.  It was a gorgeous day filled with fun, laughter, friends and family.  I was a little worried earlier in the day that Brynn was not going to make it through her party.  For some reason she fought going down for her afternoon nap.  Luckily, she crashed hard right before the party and made it through with a smile on her face.

Everything turned out beautifully.  The backyard looked amazing, the decorations were hung, and the food was delicious.  It took Brynn awhile to warm up to her birthday cake.  In the end she only took a few bites and smeared the frosting all over her face.

We were blessed with how many people were there to celebrate with us.  We are so happy that we traveled to Sioux Falls to celebrate Brynn’s first birthday with all of our loved ones, who made Brynn's day extra special.

I Want To Play TOO

After watching us play many games of bean bags over the past weekend, Brynn wanted to play too.  She kept climbing on the boards and trying to fit down the bean bag hole.  What a silly girl!!

Ma-Ma’s Little Helper

After months and months of trying to get Brynn to say Ma-Ma she is finally calling my name.  It was so sweet when she finally said my name.  I was getting up to leave the room and she looked at me with this mysterious look and said “ma-ma” loud and clear.  She said it with this tone that was like Mom where do you think you are going?
It is becoming harder and harder to get chores done around the house.  Brynn now wants to help and be included in everything.  She loves to help with laundry, dishes, and picking up.  Unfortunately, she does not quite get the concept of what I am trying to do and usually end up with a bigger mess then when we started.  Below are some pictures of Ma-Ma’s Little Helper.

11 Months Old

Brynn has become a little busy body.  She is pulling herself up on everything and getting very frustrated that she cannot walk.  She loves to walk herself along the couch and is starting to move selectively from the couch to the foot stool with confidence.  Her favorite thing to do is to empty out a drawer or cupboard and then put everything back together.  She loves stacking all of the bowls and filling them up with different items that she finds around the house.
Brynn has her own little personality.  She is fun loving, tender hearted, and a people person.  She loves being around others and misses her daycare friends when they are not around.

She loves:
·         Balls
·         Laughing
·         Watermelon
·         Opening and closing the cupboards
She is working on:
·         Taking her first steps
·         Saying Ma-Ma
·         Getting more teeth

4th of July

We had an amazing 4th of July.  The weather was beautiful, the flags were blowing in the breeze, Huntington Beach was celebrating, and we got to share the weekend with friends and family.  Brynn got to encounter the craziness of Huntington Beach on the 4th of July for the first time.  The festivities started on Sunday morning when we had to wake up early to chalk off our spot along the parade route so we would have a place to sit and not have to fight the crowds (Huntington Beach hosts the largest parade west of the Mississippi every 4th of July).  Unfortunately, the parade started during Brynn’s nap time.  She tried - but could not keep her eyes open for the entire parade.
God Bless America!

At the parade

Next we kept the festivities going and enjoyed the beautiful weather at the pool.  We all swam and played bean bags till our heart were content.   Brynn has turned into a little water baby.  She loves to splash around and relax in her floatie.  She especially loves watching and laughing at all of the other kids in the pool.
Auntie Heidi and Uncle Eric came to visit!

I love the water!

We ended the day on the beach watching the fireworks display.  Once again the fireworks were past Brynn’s bedtime so she was only awake for a short while.  However, she watched in amazement at the few fireworks she did see and was not afraid of the large BOOMS she heard.
Getting ready for the fireworks

BOOM! BOOM!

All in all it was a great weekend with beautiful weather and great family and friends.  Huntington Beach is full of tradition on the 4th of July and the spirit of the city really shines through, which is always exciting for everyone involved in the festivities.
Happy 4th of July!

Sioux Falls

Brynn and I took a vacation just the two of us back to Sioux Falls for a few days last week.  The time, once again, went by too quickly.  We just need to realize that no matter how many days we are there it is never going to be enough time.
All of my cousins

While in Sioux Falls we spent lots of time with all of the grandparents and even got together with some friends from high school.  I could not believe how many there are of us now.  Between the husbands and kids we can barely fit in one house.

Below are some photos from our trip home.  We can’t wait until we get to see everyone again in September.  See you soon!!
