Soccer or Dance Class?

I am not sure what my expectations were when I signed Brynn up for soccer, but this is definitely not what I had in mind.  For starters the league is for kids ages 3 to 6.  You can immediately pick out the 6 year olds and the kids with older brothers or sisters who have played soccer.  Unfortunately, Brynn does not fit into either one these categories.

Practices came and went and I thought she did a pretty good job for her age.  She had her moments where she was not interested in a particular soccer drill or wanted to go say hi to her friends, but I thought on game day this would all change.  I was wrong!  By game day she was very excited.  Unfortunately she was more excited about showing off her cute outfit and new water bottle than chasing the ball.

I said I would never be like my Dad and run up and down the sidelines but it took everything in me to not get up from my chair.  However, I could not resist coaching from my seat.  I am not sure I should call it coaching or just encouragement to pay attention and chase the ball.  Even after my coaching she had no desire to go and fight for the ball.  Instead she would twirl and dance around the field, wave to her friends on the other teams and/or follow behind the pack of kids.  In the end, Brynn did score a goal.  But this was after the coach took her by the hand and guided her to the ball and ultimately to the goal.

Maybe she would be more interested in dance classes?

Mister Mister is Two Months Old

Happy Birthday to my little mister.  Since his last update the Belitz cheeks have started to fill in.  He gained three pounds and grew two inches.  Looks like I will be the shortest in the family in no time.  Burke is a very good baby.  Especially now that we have figured out what causes his stomach aches and can manage his sensitive skin.  Brynn has become a great big sister and does her best to keep him occupied by bring him toys or singing to him.  She has also learned that sometimes being a big sister means that she just needs to be patient.  And lets just say her patience has its ups and downs depending on the day and sometimes hour.

We love being a family of four and could not imagine our lives without Burke.  Life is definitely a little more hectic with the four of us but at least most of the time it is organized chaos.  We will see what happens when I go back to work in a little over a month.  Yikes!!  I just keep asking myself what did we do with all of our free time before we had two kids.

Day at Disneyland

While some of our visitors were here meeting Burke, we took a day to enjoy Disneyland.  It was a last minute decision, but a wonderful one.  It was a perfect day.  The sun was shining but not too hot.  The girls were in great spirits and lasted till late in the day with no naps.  We went on a bunch of rides and had story time with Rapunzel.

Burke stayed home with Grandma Sharon, so Brynn was thrilled to have a special day with just the two of us and no distractions.  She got to go on all of the rides she wanted to, play in Toontown, and just walk along looking at all of the beautiful flowers.

The girls had a great time and loved being together.  It was definitely a magical place for them.  They got to see some of their favorite characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh and more.  It was also wonderful to have Great Grandma Donna with us who loved watching the magic in the kids’ eyes.  The old buildings and miniature nursery rhyme scenes were her absolute favorite.

Family Time

Once Burke was home from the hospital, the visitors started.  They all came to meet our little guy, play with Brynn, and get away from the cold in the Midwest.  Grandma Nancy was the first to arrive.  We were still getting used to having a new baby around the house so we stuck close to home.  Because of this, there was even a morning where Brynn and Grandma Nancy had time to play while Burke and I got an extra hour of sleep.  Second to arrive was Aunt Heidi, Uncle Eric, and Kinley.  With them we got to venture out a little bit more.  We hit up the pool, beach, and Disneyland.  Kinley and Brynn had the most fun.  Those two played and played and played.  Lastly, Great Grandma Donna came to visit.  She overlapped somewhat with Heidi and Eric and arrived in time to see Disneyland with us.  We always have such a nice time with Grandma Donna.  She cooked dinner most nights, helped with Burke, hung out with Brynn and read her book.

Thanks to everyone for coming to visit. We appreciated the extra hands.

Happy with Grandma Nancy!!

Curled up with Aunt Heidi!!

Bath Time

Just like Brynn, Burke loves the water.  He looks forward to bath time and coos and smiles the entire time he is getting a bath.  We found out that he does not mind getting water dumped on his head - thanks to Brynn.  Burke actually thinks it’s funny.  Looks like we have another swimmer on our hands and parent and me swimming lessons will need to take place in the future.
