Family Time

Once Burke was home from the hospital, the visitors started.  They all came to meet our little guy, play with Brynn, and get away from the cold in the Midwest.  Grandma Nancy was the first to arrive.  We were still getting used to having a new baby around the house so we stuck close to home.  Because of this, there was even a morning where Brynn and Grandma Nancy had time to play while Burke and I got an extra hour of sleep.  Second to arrive was Aunt Heidi, Uncle Eric, and Kinley.  With them we got to venture out a little bit more.  We hit up the pool, beach, and Disneyland.  Kinley and Brynn had the most fun.  Those two played and played and played.  Lastly, Great Grandma Donna came to visit.  She overlapped somewhat with Heidi and Eric and arrived in time to see Disneyland with us.  We always have such a nice time with Grandma Donna.  She cooked dinner most nights, helped with Burke, hung out with Brynn and read her book.

Thanks to everyone for coming to visit. We appreciated the extra hands.

Happy with Grandma Nancy!!

Bath Time

Just like Brynn, Burke loves the water.  He looks forward to bath time and coos and smiles the entire time he is getting a bath.  We found out that he does not mind getting water dumped on his head - thanks to Brynn.  Burke actually thinks it’s funny.  Looks like we have another swimmer on our hands and parent and me swimming lessons will need to take place in the future.

One Month Old

It is crazy to think that Burke is already one month old. I know I say this with Brynn all the time, but where has the time gone.  He is a sweet little boy who loves to cuddle.  He continues to be a very alert young man who is always aware of where everyone is at in the room - especially his Ma Ma.  He is growing so quickly and starting to fill out.  At his most recent doctors appointment he gained 6 ounces in 4 days.  He now weighs 9 lbs 9 oz (24 percentile) and is a whopping 22 inches long (85 percentile).

Burke's Favorites:

  • Play Mat
  • Cuddling
  • Being Held
  • His Big Sister

Fresh Beat Band Live in Concert

With all the anxiety of the past couple of weeks and everything surrounding Burke and his health, it was great to spend some quality time with just Brynn.  Grandma Sharon had gotten Brynn some tickets to a concert of her favorite band.  We left dad at home with Burke with some bottles and the three of us headed to downtown LA to see the Fresh Beat Band.  Brynn was very excited and such a good girl.  We got her a light up microphone that she used throughout the entire concert to sing into and perform along with the band.  She was a dancing machine and kept mimicking her “favorite band”.

Welcome Home

Burke gave us a little scare while we were in the hospital causing him to get transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.  His 1 week birthday was spent in the hospital but we still celebrated in style.

One Week Old

I'm a fighter!

Our little man is a fighter and took all of the tests in stride.  He only cried for a second when they did the spinal tap, he slept through both MRI’s, and barely flinched with each blood draw.   With every passing day more and more wires or tubes were removed and he continued to eat and eat.  After ten exhausting days and many tests he was cleared to go home.  This was a huge step and one of our family’s happiest days.  We had a welcome home party where we got to celebrate his one week birthday properly with a cupcake and a song.  We were all home, happy and healthy!  There is nothing better to celebrate.

B-Boy has Arrived!!

Burke James Belitz was born on January 22nd at 11:09am.  He was a healthy 7lbs 12 oz. and 20.5 inches long.  He is a very sweet and happy baby who loves it when you sit and talk to him.  He rarely fusses so when he cries we jump to see what it wrong.   He looks more and more like his big sister every day.  He got the dominate “Woody” chin from his mother and curly brown hair and laid back attitude from his father.  And we still have not decided who he got his big hands and feet from.  Brynn is a fantastic big sister and loves to hold and sing to him to calm him down.  We are truly blessed and love being a family of four.
