Miss Independent

Brynn has become a little diva when it comes to her diet.  It has now become a rare event when she will actually eat baby food, let alone food from a spoon (except yogurt – her favorite).  She now enjoys feeding herself and is very vocal about demanding her independence.  This new found independence required me to run to the nearest library to find a baby food cookbook and come up with some new ideas besides deli turkey, potatoes, carrots, and bananas.  I am sure that once she tastes Mom’s cooking she will quickly divert back to baby food.  In addition to demanding to feed herself, she has also become well aware of what she is eating.  Once food goes onto the plate in front of her she is quick to “eye spy” the items she wants and move the other items she does not like/want off of her plate.  There is no tricking her into eating anything anymore.

After weeks of trying, Miss Independent has also figured out how to sit herself up without assistance.  She now loves that she can sit up and play with her toys or read a book and then take off to find the next best thing to play with.  She is such a funny girl.

Below are some pictures we had taken for her 9 month birthday.

My top two teeth are trying to poke through.  Seeee?

Happy Birthday to Me!!

My Friend Jersey

My friend Jersey and her parents have been staying with us for a week.  It has been great.  Jersey and I do everything together – play, eat, and go swimming.  I have been doing a pretty good job of sharing my things with Jersey Girl.  I am letting her sleep in my crib, play with my toys, and sit in my highchair.  I will keep sharing if that means she can stay longer.  I am going to miss her once she leaves.

Sitting poolside - watching Jersey swim
The six of us had a great weekend together.  The weather was perfect and we got to spend both days outside.  We first took a long bike ride along the beach path where Jersey and I got to ride in a little buggy that was pulled by a bike.  Everyone thought we were so cute sitting back there together.  We only had one major incident while on the bikes.  Once we got the bottle situation squared away we were good to go - come on, I can’t share everything.  All of the moms and dads were so impressed with how well we did on the bike ride.  It helps when you take a nap on the ride home.
Peddle faster Daddy!
On Sunday, we all went on a Duffy boat ride in the Newport Harbor.  It was very relaxing and my mom even drove the boat.  The ride ended with us seeing a seal and a seagull.  Wow that was cool!
What a beautiful day

Can I drive the boat?

Auntie Ashley came on the boat too!

Hey Jersey -- ask your mom and dad if you can stay an extra week.  I promise we will have fun.

Army Crawl

Brynn is now crawling or should I saw army crawling.  She looks like a soldier crawling under barbed wire.  I was hoping to wait to post a picture of her crawling until she was actually up on all fours.  However, it does not look like that is happening anytime soon.  Below is a clip of her crawling to her favorite ladybug book.  Happy Wednesday from Brynn!!

Watermelon

I know that I posted some pictures of Brynn eating watermelon earlier this week, but I just thought this video cilp was too funny.  What you don't see in the clip, is after finishing this piece of watermelon Brynn was quick to make it known she wanted more.  I think we found a new favorite food.

9 Months Old

Little miss Brynn is getting so tall.  She goes through PJs like most people go through a gallon of milk.  PJs I purchased for her a few weeks ago no longer fit.  Her PJs were so small the other night that not only did the snap pop open, but the entire snap flew off as Brynn tried to straighten her legs.  I now need to grab the scissors before I get Brynn ready for bed just in case I need to cut the feet off.

She loves:
·         Mum Mums and Puffs
·         Ladybug book
·         Playing peek a boo
·         Watermelon
·         To High Five
Having fun with Aunt Heidi.

Higher
She is working on:
·         Getting her two front teeth
·         Pulling herself up to sit
 I love watermelon!

More please.

Time with Grandma

Grandma Woodward came to visit for two whole weeks over Easter.  Daycare was closed, so we got to spend lots of time together.  We had a great time.  We read lots of books, went for walks, laughed, and cleaned the house.  She is awesome and lets me try all sorts of new foods.  Whatever she is eating- I am eating.  Below is a picture of Grandma sharing her favorite food….TOAST.
 Yummy!!

 Cheers!
The only bummer was that I was still recovering from an ear infection while she was here.  I felt bad - I always get sick while Grandma is visiting.  The good thing is that she always knows what to do and knows how to make me feel better.  Thanks Grandma!!

 Love you!

Miss you!

Super Dad

Cameron was Super Dad this past week.  I had to travel to Charleston Tuesday – Friday for work, so Cameron had double duty.  He did everything on his own.  I am so proud of him.  The two of them had  a great time.  Every night when I called to see how things were going, all I could hear was Brynn laughing in the background.  He even taught her how to use her sippy cup.

This was the first time that I had left Brynn overnight.  I am not sure who it was harder on, me or her.  I was constantly thinking about her and wondering what she was up to.   When I returned she had changed so much.  She seemed taller, older and is looking more and more like her dad.  She was happy to see me upon my return, but reluctant to get too excited.  It was not until the next morning when I went to get her out of her crib that she realized that I was not leaving again.  That is when the excitement set in for her and we spent the entire morning playing and laughing.  My heart melted.
I am not sure who is goofier, Cameron or Brynn
