Yummy in My Tummy (or on my bib)!!

We attempted to feed Brynn oatmeal from a spoon last night.  I know - we have been slacking - we were supposed to do this weeks ago.  It was hilarious and I wanted to jump in and take over for Dad because he was just as messy as Brynn.  Below are some photos

Hmmmm…. What is this?  I think I like it.

I want some more.  Dad hurry up!!

Wait… I am not too sure about this stuff!!

Yummy!!  That tastes good.

“Bounce Bounce”

Brynn got an early Christmas present from her Grandpa Woodward and Auntie Ashley this past weekend.  Her new “Bounce Bounce” has already provided her with hours of entertainment and a little free time for Mom and Dad to do some holiday baking.  She loves all of the activities that surround her and even has a tray for her friend Sophie to rest on.  Surprisingly, she has already figured out how to turn herself all the way around to get at the different toys.

Some of her favorite toys are the singing mirror, spinning ball (which she likes to use as a teether), and the colored rings.  The most frustrating toy is the spring loaded sunshine that is almost too far away for her to grab.  Depending on how tired she is, she sometimes gives up on the sunshine after only one try and moves onto a much easier task.

Here is Brynn taking a break from all of the excitement of the new “Bounce Bounce”.

Present under the Tree

Brynn had her first Holiday Party this past weekend.  She looked so adorable that we arrived to the party fashionably late because I had to take pictures of her next to the Christmas Tree.  She looks like a little present sitting under the tree.  And that is exactly what she is the perfect present.  Her smile alone beats any gift anyone could ever give me.  And her laugh is enough to make my heart melt for weeks.  Even her cries make me love her more and more every day.

The Holiday Party was wonderful.  It was a great way to kick off the Holiday Season.  Brynn was the life of the party and she loved all of the attention.  Only 11 more days and we are headed back to South Dakota to have a white Christmas with family.

I also have to post this picture of Brynn wearing the same outfit that I wore for pictures when I was her age.

First Week of School

How time has flown by.  Brynn is now 14 weeks old and I had to go back to work.  Brynn went to daycare without a fight on Monday.  Unlike me, who stared at my phone all day.  Luckily for me, Cameron dropped her off on her first day of daycare, as I am not sure I could have handled it.  I got to be the favorite parent and pick her up, where she was all smiles and excited to see me.  The report back from the sitter was that Brynn kept an eye on her all day and fought naps so she would not miss out on anything.  I think she likes watching all of the other kids.  Hopefully both Brynn and I will adjust to our new schedule quickly, as our time at night together just does not seem like enough.

Three Months Old

Brynn is now three months old.  She is growing up too quickly.  She recently went through a growth spurt and could not get enough to eat.  We even had to start putting rice cereal in her bottles.  Once the rice cereal was introduced her Belitz cheeks filled in and she started to look so much older.  Damn rice cereal!  I hope daddy does not pinch those cute little cheeks off.

At her most recent check-up the doctor was very happy with her progress.  She now weighs 13 lbs 15 oz and is 25 ½ inches long.  She just continues to grow like a weed and can not find pants that are long enough for her.

Below are some of her three month pictures we had taken.

Baptism

Brynn became one of the newest members of the Catholic Church while we were in South Dakota.  Father Cimpl baptized Brynn at St. Michael’s Church with family members there to cheer her on.   Unfortunately, her stomach did not feel so well and she cried through most of the ceremony.  She stopped crying the second 40 of her closest family and friends clapped.  Oh how Brynn loves attention.  I would not be surprised if one day she grew up to be a performer.

Brynn is very fortunate to have wonderful godparents who traveled many miles to be with her on her big day.  Cameron and I chose our sisters’, Heidi and Ashley, to be her godparents and to bring Brynn into the Catholic community and help teach her about the Catholic faith.

After the ceremony, we went for a wonderful lunch with all of our family.  Brynn must have been so wore out from all of the crying that she slept through the entire lunch.  It was a wonderful day and we were so thankful to have so many family members there to celebrate the day with Brynn.

Thanksgiving

There is so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  Luckily for us we got to spend it with family and friends.  For the first time in 8 years we traveled to South Dakota to celebrate Thanksgiving and introduce Brynn to everyone.  She was a trooper.  She was an angel on the plane, adapted well to two hotel rooms, and my parents’ house.

Brynn and I started our Thanksgiving adventure with a few days in Sioux Falls, where we slowly adapted to the cold weather.  Unfortunately for Brynn her body was not so sure about the cold weather and had a stomach ache for most of the trip.  Grandma and Grandpa Woodward did not mind.  They just loved spending time with her.  Grandma even shared her favorite blanket with Brynn.

Next we picked up Daddy and headed to Kennebec, SD where she got to meet the Belitz family.  I was surprised at how well she did with all of the people.  She even took a nap with cousins running circles around her.

Lastly, Brynn got to go to the Ramada with all of her cousins, Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Jim to go swimming.  She was in her element here.  She finally got to be in her swimsuit and not bundled up in layers, which she hates.  She was happy to take in the heated pool area and relax.

We had a great trip and despite Brynn not feeling well she loved meeting everyone and can’t wait to visit again over Christmas.

Shake, Rattle and Roll

After weeks of frustration and rocking back and forth, Brynn rolled over for the first time.  Last night with an audience watching, Brynn was showing off her head strength during tummy time and rolled over.  We all cheered and she was all smiles.  Brynn was having so much fun playing and giggling that I happen to have the camera out and captured the moment on film.

We can not believe it.  A month ago Brynn could not even hold her head up on her own and now she is hitting all of these milestones that we thought were weeks away.  It is great to be home to witness all of these events.  However, all of these milestones remind me that soon I will have to go back to work and potentially miss some of her “firsts”.

Long Day of Shopping

The temperature here in Southern California has been abnormally hot the past few days.  We took a break from the heat and took a trip to the mall.  Brynn was a trooper.  She started off strong with her zebra in hand.

Halfway through the day after a power lunch a quick cat nap was in order.

Then on the way home she made it known that she did not want to be bothered while she caught some major zzzz’s.  Her zebra kept watch to make sure she was not disturbed.  Sometimes a girl just needs her beauty sleep.

First Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!  The sweetest little pig graced us with her presence all day long.

I thought a pig would be the perfect costume for Brynn since pink is her signature color and our neighbors had already given us the pajamas and matching pig booties as a gift.  As the day went on, Brynn loved her costume more and more.

We spent the day enjoying the weather and the beach and later went to the Huntington Beach Halloween Street Fair. The Street Fair was fun and made us very excited for next year when Brynn can walk and enjoy all the festivities.

While walking around the Street Fair people were asking Cameron if Brynn was real or a doll --people thought Cameron was the character, Alan Garner, from The Hangover since he had not shaved, had no costume and a baby carrier on.  It was too funny.

Two Months Old

I can not believe how time has flown by.  It feels like we just brought her home from the hospital last week.  I knew that aspects of our lives were going to change once we had Brynn but I did not realize everything was going to change.  Before she was born I made this long list of items I was going to complete while on maternity leave.  I have not completed one of those items and now have no intention of even glancing at the list, as I would rather spend my time playing with her, snuggling with her, talking to her, listening to her babble back, watching her sleep, and letting her explore the world.  Housework and the gym no longer matter.  Dinners that take more than 30 minutes to cook are a thing of the past and I can not remember the last time I even thought about work.  Yes our lives have completely changed, but we would not give up our new life for anything.  It is great to once again look at life through the eyes of a child and have your life full of love.

Below are some pictures of Brynn’s favorite things.

Denver

Brynn took her first airplane ride this past weekend.  She was a perfect angel on the flight.  As you can see in the photo below she was very excited to go and visit Aunt Heidi and Uncle Eric.

Denver was a blast.  It was great for Brynn to finally meet her Aunt Heidi and Uncle Eric, who spoiled her rotten.  She misses them already.

While in Denver we explored the downtown area.  Brynn and Daddy even checked out the capital building while Mom got a massage.
